colleg 13-3GuangxueChen, born in February 1963, is a doctor of engineering (graduated from Information Engineering University), a second-class professor, doctoral supervisor, and the expert enjoying the special allowance of the State Council.

Chen is currently the chief scientist and member of the Strategy Committee of Guangdong CAILE Intelligent Packaging Technology Co., Ltd., and has been appointed the distinguished professor at the South China University of Technology, the academic backbone of the State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering, the Director of the Guangdong Non-woven Fabrics Composites Engineering Technology Research Center. He has successively won the honorary titles of outstanding young scientific worker at the ministerial level, and scientific Chinese (2018) Person of the Year. Chen is also the vice-chairman of the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee, the co-chairman of the International Federation of Printing Electronics and Intelligent Packaging, the vice-chairman of the Chinese Society for Imaging Science and Technology, the vice-chairman of the Image Science and Engineering Branch of China Instrumentation Society, and the deputy director of science and technology committee of China Packaging Federation.

Chen has long been engaged in scientific research, teaching, and industrialization application in packaging and printing, pulp and paper making, geographic cartography, and the “Internet of Things”, and has made many innovative achievements in new functional materials, biomass-based environmental protection packaging materials, printed electronics and intelligent packaging, digital printing and 3D printing. Chen’s relevant research is at the domestic leading and international advanced level, leading the transformation and development of China’s printing and packaging industry, producing significant economic and social benefits. Chen has been invited many times to participate in the formulation of development plans for China’s printing and packaging industry and has assisted a number of packaging and printing companies to list on the stock exchange in China.

Chen has presided over and completed more than 30 scientific research projects at the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the provincial and ministerial levels, and won 15 first and second prizes for scientific and technological progress at the provincial and ministerial levels, and 1 Chinese Patent Excellence Award. Chen has participated in drafting and revising 18 national and industry standards in packaging and printing and has applied for more than 160 domestic and foreign patents, of which more than 90 patents have been authorized.

As the first author and corresponding author, Chen has published more than 200 papers in such journals indexed by SCI and EI, as Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Carbohydrate Polymers, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Chemistry of Materials, Rapid Prototyping Journal, Materials and Design, etc.5 scholarly monographs written by him have been published.
